Jeremy Davis (CT) also took home the "A" flight Singles title. Brian Nelson (PA) captured the the "B" flight crown, and Marc Krasner (NJ) and Jason James (NJ) split the "C" title. And let the controversy begin...

Bubble Hockey National Rankings (last edited November 2008)
Chexxfan.com has their own informal "rankings" based on local knowledge, past tournament histories, and Bud Light "Bubble Boys" success. However, lots of weight goes into playing in tournaments, and in the past few years not a lot of bubblers have been playing the tournament scene. With that in mind, here is one man's list of who the "new" forces are to reckon with under the dome: Edited 11/08

Jeremy Davis, CT - what can you say about this young gun from CT?!? Dominates nearly every event he enters, has won tournaments in NJ, PA, MO, NY, etc, etc, etc - the hottest bubbler on the planet right now and he shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. Anyone want his crown? Come and get it!

Kelly Walker - won the 1st National Championships in St. Louis a few years back, and he was a consistent Bubble Boys finalist. Consensus says this guy has a game second to none, including Jeremy. Where is he now?!? Bet he is still at the top of the world under the dome...but he'll have to re-emerge and take on all-comers again if he wants to prove it and climb to #1.

Al Jennings, MA - at one time the #1 player around, hands down. Still can play with anyone, anywhere, on any dome. He and Jeremy have had epic battles the last few times they have met in tournaments (always in the finals), but Jeremy has gotten the better of him in those events so Al can't lay claim to #1 anymore. Can he re-capture his #1 ranking and reclaim dominance in the dome???

Tim Leahey, MA - don't know how much outside of Mass. he has played, but he was always a consistent top finisher in the old KONE events against some of the top talent in the North East region of the country. Great singles and doubles player. Super quick with the rods. Clearly one of the top players anywhere and a tough draw in any tournament.

Scott Storck, PA - Hasn't played in all the big tournaments the last few years, but was a force to be reckoned with when he did. Bubble Boy finalist from PA in '03, and has appeared in some of the prior events in NJ and MA but none recently. Has the table speed and bubble skills to play with anyone - it would be interesting to see how he fared if he got back into the tournament scene. Legitimate threat to vault to #1.

John Gaffney, NJ - Has played in all the big tournaments the last few years. 6 consecutive pool play #1 seeds in the last 6 tournaments. Never won any of those titles, but was only knocked down/out by either Jeremy or Tim Leahey, so no shame in that. A player who can beat any other player on any day, but needs to step it up a notch if he wants to get closer to the top.

Bill Brooks, NJ - Another terrific singles and doubles talent - superb all around game. He has had mixed tournament success over the years, but he too usually runs into Jeremy at some point and hasn't been able to get over that hurdle. Another player not afraid of the national stage and mixing it up with the best players in the world.

Marc Steele, MI - the self-proclaimed "Bad Boy of the Bubble." His emotional outbursts are legendary, his temper explosive, but there is no denying his talent level under the dome. Another player who's game can match up with anyone, anywhere, anytime - he plays in all the biggest tournaments and fairs quite well, but yet another player who can't seem to climb the hurdle of #1 Jeremy. That won't stop him from trying...

Brian Tracey, MO - Maybe the top bubbler in the state of MO. He has performed very well in the National Championships each year they were in St. Louis. Smooth and consistent in every game he plays. Needs to test his game outside the Midwest to see where he stacks up against the other top players - his ranking likley would go up if he did.

Mark Wojtkiewicz, NY - another solid all around player, equally adept in singles and doubles play. Owns a "Bubble Boys" doubles title and has won some singles events in NY. Always a strong performer in any event he enters. Great defensive player, one of the top anywhere.

Doug Davis, CT - younger brother of Jeremy, and almost as much game to match. He travels to any event in the nation, and everyone who has seen him play knows he gets better and better with every tournament he plays. It shouldn't be long before this youngster takes some big steps up the rankings...

Brian Nelson, PA - Consistently strong finisher in any event he enters. Has several "B" flight trophies to his credit. This guys is a step or two from entering the top 10 but needs to have some consistent success against some of the higher ranked players to be considered a top dawg.

Tony Hernandez, UT - A guy who could be and maybe should be higher ranked, but he hasn't made it out East enough or had a break through showing in a top event to quite crack the top 10. Has the game to do it, though - it would be interesting to see where he rates against some of the top names on this list in future events. Fantastic ambassador for the game.

Erich Markee, NH - Haven't seen much of him lately, but here is another top talent out of the Northeast area of the country. Anther top all around player, doubles and singles. His ranking likely would improve with more tournament showings - that is the name of the game if anyone wants to get a higher ranking...

Kieran Valla, NY - This youngster is another player who someday could make a move up the rankings. He hasn't quite faired well enough in his previous events to warrant a higher showing, but he is a consistent "A" flight qualifier and threat in any tournament to take out a top player or 2...

Mike McCormick, OH - This bubbler hasn't be seen or heard from in a while, but when he played he proved he was one of the best players around. Top gun in doubles, near the top in singles. Could move up with some more tournament appearances, could move down and out in the future if he doesn't make some more events.

Jason Avery, Toronto, Canada - Have only seen him play 1x, so this might be too high a ranking for a relative unknown in the bubble world. But he drove down to NJ to play in an event in '08, qualified in the "A" flight, split 2 hard fought 3-game series with Bill Brooks, so he can play the game. Could move up the chart with some more strong tournament showings.

Jim Sullivan, MA - Long time veteran of the bubble. Lots of success over the years in doubles play, some success in singles. He has the tools, but hasn't had any breakout wins in recent tournaments. Along with Al has run chexxfan.com and the KONE events over the years and another real strong ambassador for the game of bubble hockey

Disagree with these rankings? Feel left out? Think you've got game under the dome and deserve some love from the raters?!? Only one way to find out - GET OUT AND PLAY BUBBLE HOCKEY!!! These rankings are subjective and fluid, but if you don't play the game no one knows how good you are, so start spinning the rods and slapping the puck around and come on out to the next tournament and strut your stuff!!!
